22 & 23 EBooks & AudioBooks

Whoops...Just went back and check and this post did not appear. I love digital books and think that they open up so many learning possibilities in the classroom. They are a fantastic way to motivate reluctant readers. This is the way of the future.

Final Post

i have found this to be a wonderful experience and I have learnt so very much. While ther were some things that I already new about I have learnt a whole bucket of new things that I am keen to share. I will deffinately be going back a revisiting each post to really use each site/learning tool to their full potential.

21 Online Video

This is a fabulous resource. I am very keen for this forum to be opened up to students however I do acknowledge the potential dangers. I found a number of useful videos particularly on podcasting. The videos took a very long time to down load and I found it very difficult to attach to this blog...hence it not being here...however I think that the benfits of the resource far out way the down falls.

20. Podcasts

I am currently the technology teach at my school and I loved this topic as this is the direction I am moving my stage 3 students to next term. The possibilities with this technology are endless. I am looking forward to the challenge of both using podcasts as a teaching tool and having 60+ kids create there own podcasts.

19 Rollyo

This is an awesome idea. I have already created my list of websites and search ideas and am very keen to share this idea with my friends and peers. I can see that this would be very useful within the school environment especially when teaching different year groups or subject areas from term to term and year to year.

18. Wikis

I only discovered the joy of using Wikis last year, during an online project that I was doing with my class. Sadly the DET is yet to unlock this application for students to use so there application in the classroom is limited however an endless world of possibilities has been opened up as far as homework is concerned. I believe that wikis have a huge role to play in our education system and expanding our teaching skills.

17 Delicious

I was introduced to delicious about this time last year. I love it and is my favourite place to go looking for resources and ideas. I even have a few of my own resources up on the site mainly to do with G&T classes and IWB's.
I love, love, love this site.

Subscribe To Blogs

I have been a huge fan on a personal level of blogs for a long time. It is the opportunity to keep in touch with those who in my case live far away. I have been able to follow the birth of babies, birthday parties, engagement parties and other events that I have not been able to attend for whatever reason. I am now using blogs as part of my teaching program both to develop staff knowledge and confidence of technology and to expose students to the wonderful world of blogging.

RSS

This is fantastic. What a great way to keep up with things. I love that when I started adding pages that it gave me the option of adding it to my iGoogle page. I can see that this will a be a fantastic way of keeping track of frequently accessed pages when programing and on a personal level.

Facebook

As metioned in my previous post I prefer Facebook to other social networks. I am a Facebook addict and am on it daily. I love the fact that with just a click I am able to become connected with friendds and family all over the world. The instant chat aspect takes away from the talking to a computer theroy. I am unable to get a grasp on Twitter and I have tried several times. I just dont understand why we need to be that connected....however I know plenty of friends who are constantly telling me that I need to learn to tweet. More practise is needed I think.

My Space

I am a fan of My Space...however I prefer Facebook. In saying that I follow alot of my favourite band using My Space. I origanally started using My Space a number of years ago as a way of keeping up with my little brothers antics. I found it very easy to access and navigate and that the aspect of personalisation is fantastic. I now find that it is a younger persons place. Very effective though and I think that it really just does come down to personal choice.

Library Thingy

I love readin book reviews...especially about a book that I have read or am reading. This is fantastic. I can see that this is a useful tool for students to keeo track of the books they have read during the year and as a chance to enter a virtual world and share their opinions. Fantastic

Virtually Online

I have to be honest...I have played around with second life previously and did not really enjoy it. I can definately see the benefits of online networks within the classroom and teaching in a remote area highlights the benefits even further. I think that this concept has the potential to be both a saving grace and a whole bucket of headaches. Being able to converse with those of similar mind/situations etc is fantastic...however the question must also be asked are we actively encouraging people to withdraw from the outside world and live largely through their computer??

Google Books

This is fantastic...I previously have spent hours searching for the right book...for whatever purpose. I love the fact that you can flick through a few pages in order to determine if it is really what you are looking for. I will definately be revisiting this and can see potential for using it within my teaching program.

iGoogle

Wow...I have so much fun setting up my page. I even sat down and showed my husband how clever I was. We are both very excited to be able to open up our home page and have everything that we would normally access on a daily basis at our finger tips. This is great. I already have big ideas running around my head as to how I can use this in my lessons with our stage 3 kids at school. I love this application/site and it was os easy to use. I have a feeling that as soon as I had the computer over my husband will be adding more gadgets...and really the list is endless.

Google Maps

I have been a big user of Google Maps for a long time. I love it and now find myself directing students towards Google Maps rather than an Atlas. It is saved in my favorites.

Google Docs

I love Google Docs. I never even new that this facility existed...what a fabulous idea. So often I have been caught out by not having my USB or portable hard drive with me, or incompatable programs. I can see that this will put an end to that problem. I guess the question is how much do you store on the site and do I have the common sense and memory to go back and constantly organise so that this space does not look like my office desk??
I can see myself becoming a frequent user. :)

What Is Web 2.0

Wow...Web2.0 certainly holds a lot of promise. A way of connecting and sharing information with so many. I can see so many uses for the entire application of Web2.0 within the school environemnt...both for staff and students. This is very exciting...I can't wait to get deeper into what the concept of Web2.0 holds.

What can I say??

I guess the million dollar question is what do I write? How personal does one get on these things? How do I know that I have set this up write and I am sharing it with the people that are meant to be seeing it and not the whole world? Questions...questions.
I guess I will start by saying I love technology and embrace it with gusto...I am the current technology teacher at Cobar Public and teach it as the RFF subject to all students friom K-6...I love it although I am missing my own class a little.
I am very excited about this project and can't wait to dive right in and swim as far as I can.
Cheers
